"Every 15 seconds a child dies from easily
preventable water-related disease, caused from a
lack of sewage disposals such as toilets and proper
sanitation and distillation methods."
CLEAN WATER PROGRAM
Hands Helping Hands works to create access
to clean drinking water in villages and remote
areas of the world where access to clean
water has not yet been made accessible
As of 2006 the UN estimated that 1.1 billion
people still lack access to clean drinking water.
At Hands Helping Hands we believe that every
human has the right to gain access to clean
drinking water. That is why we are committed
to increasing access to clean water to
communities and areas of the world where it is
not yet accessible
Working with local non-profit organizations and
community members Hands Helping Hands works to
not only build wells in which to access water but also
sets up irrigation systems and distillation faculties in
order to ensure that water is properly filtered and safe
to use for cooking, drinking and bathing.
In addition to building wells and filtration systems, we
also look to educate community members on the
dangers of using untreated water, to help prevent
illness.
"In the developing world, 90% of all wastewater still
goes untreated into local rivers and streams which
people end up drinking, bathing with and using in
their cooking."
